OD Pours Out of Me
Organization Development is the science of helping organizations of one or more go through change. I did say one or more for it is better to think of yourself as a vast collection of ideas, ways of thinking, characteristics, experiences, and dreams than to think of yourself as only one isolated person. That way, you will not be surprised at the HUGE amount of data both in you and within people who see and hear you. To know your complete self, IMHO, it helps to realize just how huge a job it is to know all about you. That way you can pace yourself and allow for breaks when you just might be overwhelmed from the effort.
This is your first lesson in Organization Development. OD has "tools" to help you travel through this lifelong journey and one of them is called the Johari Window. The Johari window has four panes. They are:
One - Information you know about yourself and others know about you.
Two - Information you know about yourself and others do not know about you.
Three - Information others know about you and you do not know about you.
Four - Information about you that is unknown to you and everyone else.
John can introduce you and your business to Sound Messages as well as the Johari Window during Lunch and Listens, one-on-one sessions, and training workshops.
John Werner has degrees in Engineering, Music and Organization Development. He practices Sound Messages™ daily.
Have you asked someone to change the volume, tone, or speed of their words? What was the immediate result? Did you notice any change or improvement later? I learn from you, too; please share your thoughts in the comments section below.
